Have I said lately how much I love newborns? Well I do! Not only are they fun to shoot (and exhausting, but so so fun), they are fun to edit! Here's my newest newborn that I shot on Sunday. He was not a fan of being naked, and had a hard time falling asleep at first, but after awhile, I finally wore him out! His older brother was my very first newborn. You can see those pictures here and here, but please, don't judge, I was just starting out, haha.

I absolutely get so much joy when I get requests to take portraits because they want to give it as a gift to someone else. I think pictures are one of the best gifts you can give someone. Can you tell that these two are sisters? They want to give the picture of all of them to their parents for Christmas. I LOVE this family, although I am a bit biased. This is my sister's family. We had planned on taking pictures all summer thinking Labor Day weekend would be nice and warm, but we were wrong. The high was 66 that day and WINDY! My poor sister couldn't use the cute dresses she had out for the girls (or the headbands I made them), and had to run to the store to find something else more appropriate for the weather. I have to say, these coordinating shirts were adorable. The girls were also stoked cause they got to wear their cowboy boots!

And another newborn! How adorable is he? I got to do a session with him when he was exactly a week old. He was a bit of a challenge though. He'd be in a dead sleep, but if I put him on his tummy, he'd grumble and make faces (not really cry or wake up). I got one shot of him in his tummy and the rest we had to do on his side and back. No big deal though, he was still so adorable and gave some smiles in those positions! AND I got to try out my brand new sling on him.

I have gotten a lot of newborns sessions lately and I'm LOVING it. I think, if I could, I'd love to only do newborns! Maybe someday. They are a lot of work (with some photo sessions lasting 4 hours!), but so rewarding. I love that I get to capture these days of "newness" for parents! Here is little Ella. This is a gorgeous couple that are in my small group. They get there pictures taken every year for their anniversary and this is the second year they asked me to do them! This time we headed down to the capital. It was such a blast to do something besides my normal nature outdoor shots!

Meet Newborn Brinley {Sun Prairie Portrait Photographer}

Well this sneak peek is rather large. I just couldn't help myself. We got so many great images of Brinley in only 2 1/2 hours! And that was including set up, clean up, and changing the "set" throughout the session. Once she fell asleep, she was OUT. She only woke up one time for a feeding and I thought she'd never go back to her deep sleep like she was in, but I was wrong. It took like 2 minutes and she was dead to the world again. When Noah's mom told me that she wanted to do Noah's 4 year pictures by a train, I got so excited. I just love how little boys LOVE trains. He was going to have his birthday party at a Train Museum, and doing his session by a train just made sense. We also hit up a local park which was great! I had so much fun with you Noah, and next time maybe I can bring Jessie and Bullseye too, instead of just having Woody :)

Well last week was probably one of the worst weeks of my life. I came down with hand, foot, and mouth disease. Sounds so gross, huh? Well all it really was was a super high fever and then the worst sore throat I've ever had for about 5 days! Since I got sick, I had to cancel all of my sessions, especially since they were all babies 1 year or younger. Luckily, once I started to feel better (although I still had the virus in my system), I was able to photograph some dear friend's kids. Since they were older, they knew to keep their distance from me. I was so excited because I got to try out a new lens I had just gotten the day before. I LOVE it! And I love the smiles these kids gave me. Aren't they just precious?

This post is LONG overdue! I had the chance to travel to Texas in March to visit some great friends. We all had baby's due in April 2008 (although mine decided to come early). It was so much fun watching the girls run, laugh, and play together. We even did a mini photoshoot for them. Enjoy, more to come for one more cutie.

Here's the group shot. We didn't get them at the best time as they spotted the playground, and also were getting a little cold. It probably also didn't help that 5 adults and a 6-year-old were making extremely loud noises to try to get their attention (myself included, hehe).

First I took Bri with me in the direct sun, eek, to scope the location out. We got some shots :)

Then it was Carmen's turn. I am so impressed with how she did, cause she is a 2-year-old who already knows her mind!

By this time, Bri had fallen and gotten a mean gash on her knee. But Carmen's mommy came to the rescue and cuddled with her while I was photographing Carmen. Here's Bri's knee. Poor thing, but she looks tough and I love the tutu, shoes and scraped knee together!

Even though Bri wasn't too happy, Macey was ready to go and gave some great smiles.

And although these next pictures of Macey's big sis were taken the day before right before we left for a rodeo, I thought I'd share them with this post. Liana turned 6 recently, and Bri was her mini me!

Two years ago today I got the best gift I could ever ask for; a beautiful baby girl! However since I had pre-eclampsia and was pumped full of magnesium sulfate to make sure I didn't seizure, and Bri was 5 weeks early at 4lbs 3 oz and was having some trouble breathing, , I only saw her for about 10 seconds that day. But being able to hold her for 10 seconds was enough for me to fall completely in love with her. Luckily, I was able to see her the next day when my meds wore off, and she only stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. Looking at her now, you'd never know she was a preemie. She is so amazing and takes my breath away everyday. She is my little social butterfly, flirting with everyone she sees. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIANNA! I hope you had an amazing day!

I was so excited when the "S" Family contacted me and said they wanted winter pictures taken. This was my first winter, outdoor session and it was so much fun. We actually had a very nice day; about 35 degrees. I traveled up to them, and thanks to their bold actions of asking neighbors to go on their property, we got some great pics; starting on a pond so we could capture their daughter ice skating! Well, I couldn't decide how I wanted to do family pictures this year. I just couldn't bring myself to pay someone else to do them, so I took my chaces and asked my mom to take some for us. I set the camera settings up, gave her a crash course on my camera and let her click away. I think they turned out pretty well. After our session, we tried to get some of the two girls, and then my mom wanted to jump in. ;)

I can't believe that Christmas is just a little over 6 weeks away! I guess it is time to start thinking about Christmas cards. I have come up with a couple designs, and plan on making even more. I'm so glad that the "K" Family decided to reschedule when the original shoot date got rained out. We were lucky to have pretty mild weather during the rescheduled shoot, however the previous storm knocked the gorgeous leaves down. Luckily this park is gorgeous AS IS and so was the family!

Well my friend had her baby 6 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia (what I had with Brianna which made her 5 weeks early). He was born at 2lbs 15oz, but doing so well. I went to visit mom and baby on Friday and we did a mini NICU session. He is such a joy and such a good eater! All he has to do to go home is gain more weight and regulate his body temperature! Please keep baby Caleb in your prayers that he continues to do well so he can come home with mom and dad soon! He is 9 days old in these pictures and just past the 3lb mark!

Well it certainly got cold here fast. Brrrr. Well while scouting for good "fall tree" locations, I took some pics of my baby girl. There are a lot more, however I need to edit other things first. And p.s. she did the pose on her belly all by herself. She has started to play on her tummy and we have made a big deal about it, so she does it to get attention. How funny is that? Now all I have to say is "lay on your tummy and be cute" and she gets in this pose with a hugs smile on her face.

I was thrilled when a friend from high school asked me to take some pictures of her wedding. I was not the official photographer, however was able to dip my feet in a bit at wedding photography. I enjoyed it quite a bit and would love to get into weddings. Congratulations Megan and Greg!

My sis's family! Her stepdaughter, Alicia, was over on a weekend that I was visiting home, so we did a session. She needed to catch up on pics cause I had done so many of Elli. Isn't Alicia ADORABLE!!! What a fun day! She is quite the model for a 4-year-old!

Too bad Elli wasn't in much of a mood for pics that day.

Tim and Cindi are a wonderful couple that my Scott and I are friends with. I was so thrilled when they asked me to take pictures for them for their 4th anniversary. They actually got married the day after Scott and I did (but we didn't know each other then). They are such a sweet and adorable couple and I loved capturing their love for each other.

My Family! My husband, Scott's sister and brother-in-law were in town for a little while from Philly, so we decided to get some pictures taken as a family. This includes Scott's parents, sister and brother-in-law, brother and sister-in-law,and Scott, me and our daughter Brianna. We didn't have anyone to take the pictures, so we used the timer. They turned out pretty good considering using the timer.

Tried to get some pictures of Brianna yesterday. She isn't as cooperative as she used to be; ahh, gotta love toddlers.

Some with daddy. They weren't planned at all. Scott was just trying to calm her down cause all of a sudden she is scared of the seamless paper. I think she might develop photographer's child syndrome. Let's hope not!

It was such an cloudy day, I decided to take some pictures of my peanut at a local park. Too bad it's still pretty brown outside. I can't wait till we get more greenery. It's also hard to get a toddler to smile when they are obessed with finding and eating rocks. LOL.
